About Our Montessori Infant Program

At Montessori Academy at Sharon Springs, we believe your child's learning journey begins from the very first day of life. During infancy, your little one is taking in the world around them through every sight, sound, touch, and loving interaction. Dr. Maria Montessori recognized that these earliest years lay the foundation for future learning, confidence, and independence. Our Montessori Infant Program nurtures this extraordinary stage of growth through responsive care, sincere experiences, and trusting relationships with our guides. Research continues to show that high-quality early childhood education supports healthy social, emotional, and cognitive development. When babies are surrounded by a nurturing environment where they feel safe, valued, and understood, they develop the trust, security, and confidence needed to thrive. Our goal is simple: we want your baby to feel loved, secure, and excited to discover the world around them each and every day.

From 6 Weeks to 18 Months: Supporting Your Baby Through Every Stage of Growth

The first eighteen months are one of the most extraordinary periods of your child's development. According to First Things First, a baby's brain doubles in size during the first year of life. It forms more than one million new neural connections every second, creating the foundation for movement, language, relationships, and problem-solving. At Montessori Academy at Sharon Springs, our Montessori Infant Program honors your little one's unique developmental journey, providing a nurturing environment where they can explore, grow, and build confidence at their own pace. Through loving guidance and sincere experiences, we help your child develop trust, security, and a strong foundation for a love of learning.

  • Sensory Exploration for Growing Minds - Your child learns about the world through touch, sound, movement, light, and discovery long before words begin to form. Through carefully selected Montessori mate rials and sensory experiences, your little one builds curiosity, concentration, and the confidence to explore their environment.
  • Movement, Coordination and Physical Development - Every reach, roll, crawl, and first step is an exciting milestone in your child's journey toward independence. Our prepared environment gives your little one safe opportunities to move, explore, and strengthen both gross and fine motor skills at their own pace.
  • Language Development through Connection - Language grows through loving relationships and meaningful interaction. Through songs, stories, conversation, and responsive communication, our guides help your child feel heard, valued, and confident as their language blossoms.
  • Practical Life Experiences & Early Independence - Simple everyday moments like feeding, dressing, and caring routines become meaningful learning experiences in our Montessori Infant Program. Research highlights how these responsive back-and-forth communications and nurturing interactions help your baby build trust, coordination, confidence, and a growing sense of independence.
  • Emotional Security & Trusting Relationships - When your child feels safe, loved, and secure, they are free to explore and learn with confidence. Our guides build warm, trusting relationships with each child, creating the emotional foundation that supports healthy development and lifelong learning.
  • Safe, Beautiful Spaces Designed for Infants - Our Infant classrooms are peaceful, welcoming spaces thoughtfully prepared with your child's needs in mind. Filled with natural materials, child-sized furnishings, and carefully selected Montessori materials, the space is designed so that every detail helps your little one feel secure, comfortable, and excited to explore.

One of the things I love most about this school is how genuinely the teachers enjoy their work and how lovingly they interact with the children. The team—and of course the team leader—is truly wonderful. The environment is clean, warm, and welcoming. The children get to experience and learn so many things about life. No activity feels random or rushed; everything is done with real care and intention. Many thanks to everyone involved.
